Vinod Khosla
Vinod Khosla flew from Jones Aviation Airport in Kansas to King County International Airport in Seattle on the night of June 8, 2026, a 1-hour 22-minute hop in his Gulfstream V, tail N85NV. The brief flight from the Midwest to the Pacific Northwest is notably out of step with his usual loops between San Jose, New York, and Washington, D.C.
The same week Khosla's jet landed, multiple outlets reported the Sun Microsystems co-founder is preparing a bid to buy the Seattle Seahawks. According to the Times of India, the tech billionaire has submitted a letter of interest for the Super Bowl LX winners, a franchise the league hopes could sell for $10 billion or more. Khosla, who bought a 3.1 percent stake in the San Francisco 49ers just last year, is now vying to own an NFC West rival outright.
The trip is an unusual detour for Khosla, whose recent flights trace a familiar axis of venture capital and policy: San Francisco to Washington, D.C., and back, with stops in New Jersey and Colorado. But his Gulfstream V's path to Boeing Field — the airport closest to the Seahawks' home at Lumen Field — suggests a business meeting, not a boardroom in Menlo Park. A rival bidder is NBA investor Aditya Mittal, per Sportico; the auction may close as early as August.
