Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani flew from Navi Mumbai to Doha on May 11, landing aboard his Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ, VT-AKV. The flight arrived the same week U.S. President Donald Trump was in Qatar for a state visit hosted by Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.
Ambani attended a state dinner at the Lusail Palace on May 14, per a Reuters report. The trip marked his second meeting with Trump since the inauguration. The visit coincided with Trump witnessing the signing of a record $96 billion Qatar Airways-Boeing aircraft order, as reported by Businessworld. Ambani's Reliance Industries has deep ties to both nations — Qatar's sovereign wealth fund QIA has invested roughly $1 billion in Reliance's retail arm, and the conglomerate partners with U.S. tech giants Google and Meta.
The Doha stop follows a pattern of high-stakes diplomacy for Ambani, who attended Trump's inauguration in January and hosted Ivanka Trump at his son's pre-wedding gala in 2024. No formal business discussions were held at the dinner, sources told Reuters, but the guest list alone told the story.
