Aflac
Aflac flew from Tampa International Airport to Columbia Metropolitan Airport on May 26, a 1-hour-17-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream G280 (N280AF) at a cruising altitude of 37,025 feet.
The trip comes the same week Aflac Incorporated reported first-quarter 2026 results, per a PRNewswire release on April 29, showing net earnings up 8.3% in yen and a 25.5% jump in new annualized premium sales in Japan, driven by the Anshin Palette medical insurance launch. The company also recently opened a new office in South Portland, Maine, to service the state’s Paid Family and Medical Leave program, as covered by local outlets. Columbia is not a recurring destination in Aflac’s typical pattern of Columbus-to-Atlanta or Columbus-to-Tokyo flights, suggesting a specific business meeting or regional event tied to the insurer’s U.S. group benefits expansion.
The flight follows a series of recent trips by the same aircraft: a May 21 run from Columbus to Washington Dulles and back, and a May 20 hop from Savannah to Columbus after a Bermuda stop. Aflac’s home base remains Columbus, Georgia, where CEO Daniel Amos oversees the Fortune 500 supplemental insurer’s dual U.S.-Japan operations.
