Costco Wholesale flew from Stutzke Airport in Iowa to Aurora Municipal Airport in Illinois on June 10, a 15-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream G280 (N84CW). The brief flight touches down near Chicago the same week the company detailed its strategy for returning tariff refunds to members, as reported by Digital Commerce 360 after the May 28 Q3 earnings call.
During that call, CEO Ron Vachris said Costco had begun submitting refund claims for IEEPA tariffs and expects to receive refunds over the next two to three months, with a plan to “return to our members, in some form, the portion of tariffs that were passed on to them.” The trip follows the release of May sales results on June 3, which showed net sales up 14.5 percent to $24.01 billion.
The Midwest stop fits a pattern of recent flights: over the prior week, the same aircraft visited Ohio, Indiana, and Virginia, likely for warehouse visits. Costco operates 639 U.S. warehouses and has been opening 30-plus net new locations per year, per the Q3 call. The short hop from Iowa suggests a day trip to a regional distribution center or store, consistent with the company’s flat management culture that keeps executives close to operations.
