Dominion Energy
Dominion Energy flew from Folly Neck, Virginia, to Groton, Connecticut, on May 20, landing at KGON just after 7:08 p.m. local time. The 65-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream G450, tail N607D, brought Dominion Energy's CEO Robert Blue and senior staff to the doorstep of the utility's Millstone nuclear power plant in Waterford.
The same week, Dominion Energy confirmed it had submitted a bid to extend a long-term power contract for Millstone, the largest U.S. nuclear plant by capacity, according to an E&E News by POLITICO report. The bid comes as Dominion Energy works to secure carbon-free generation alongside its 2.6-GW Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind project, which is 75% complete and set to open in 2027.
The trip to Connecticut is part of a recurring pattern for Dominion Energy's aircraft. In the past week, N607D has shuttled between Richmond and the Groton area several times, consistent with ongoing regulatory and operational meetings related to Millstone. The plant's contract extension is critical as data-center-driven electricity demand surges across Dominion Energy's service territories in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina.
