Dominion Energy
Dominion Energy flew from DeKalb Peachtree Airport to Columbia Metropolitan Airport on May 21, a 55-minute hop in its Gulfstream G450, N607D. The flight touched down in South Carolina's capital just three days after the company announced a definitive agreement to combine with NextEra Energy in an all-stock transaction valued at roughly $66.8 billion, per a CNBC TV18 report.
The same week, Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy outlined plans to operate dual headquarters in Richmond, Virginia, and Juno Beach, Florida, while retaining Dominion Energy South Carolina's operational headquarters in Cayce, South Carolina. The May 18 news release from NextEra Energy's newsroom noted that the combined company is proposing $2.25 billion in bill credits for Dominion Energy customers in Virginia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, and that the deal is expected to close in 12 to 18 months pending regulatory approvals.
The arrival in Columbia follows a pattern of frequent flights between Richmond and the Carolinas. Over the previous two days, N607D had also flown from Richmond to Groton, Connecticut, and back, suggesting a busy week of meetings. The Columbia stop likely involves discussions with local regulators or operational staff as Dominion Energy prepares for the merger process.
