Dominion Energy
Dominion Energy flew from Jim Hamilton L.B. Owens Airport in Columbia, South Carolina, to Jayarz Airport in Smithfield, Virginia, on May 21, a 33-minute hop in its Gulfstream G450. The short trip touches down near the utility’s regulated service territory in South Carolina, where it operates as Dominion Energy South Carolina.
The same week, Dominion Energy and NextEra Energy announced a definitive agreement to combine in an all-stock transaction valued at $66.8 billion, per a May 18 joint press release filed with the SEC. The deal, which will create the world’s largest regulated electric utility, requires approvals from state regulators including the Public Service Commission of South Carolina, which Dominion Energy cited in its Q1 2026 earnings call as having an electric rate case pending for its South Carolina unit.
The flight follows a pattern of recent trips between Dominion Energy’s Richmond headquarters and utility infrastructure sites. In the past three days, N607D flew from Richmond to Connecticut and back, likely tied to the company’s Millstone nuclear power station, which was discussed in the Q1 call as a key asset. The Smithfield landing suggests a review of South Carolina operations amid the merger’s regulatory pipeline.
