Dominion Energy's Gulfstream G450 (N607D) touched down at Richmond International Airport at 3:30 p.m. on June 17, completing a 53-minute flight from John Glenn Columbus International Airport. The aircraft had departed Columbus just before 2:37 p.m., climbing to 23,000 feet for the short hop back to the utility's home base.
The same week, Virginia's Energy Commission heard testimony on Dominion Energy's proposed $67 billion merger with NextEra Energy, per a report from VPM. Merger expert Scott Hempling told lawmakers the State Corporation Commission's statutory 180-day review clock will begin once the application is filed, likely this month or next. Watchdog groups, as covered by WHRO, are urging rigorous scrutiny to ensure the deal benefits ratepayers, not just shareholders.
The Columbus stopover follows a pattern of short-haul trips in recent days: N607D flew from Richmond to the Washington, D.C., area on June 16, then to West Palm Beach on June 15. The aircraft's frequent return to KRIC underscores Dominion Energy's operational focus on its Virginia headquarters during a pivotal regulatory and legislative period.
