Elon Musk flew from Austin to Temple, Texas, on May 13, a 23-minute hop aboard his Gulfstream G650ER (N628TS) that landed at Draughon Miller Central Texas Regional Airport just after noon local time. The brief trip comes at the tail end of a contentious week in Oakland, where Musk has been attending the trial of his lawsuit against OpenAI and its CEO, Sam Altman.
The trial, now in its third week, has drawn daily crowds to the Ronald V. Dellums federal courthouse, per the Seattle Times. Musk testified late last month, accusing Altman and co-founder Greg Brockman of “stealing a charity” by converting OpenAI from a nonprofit into a for-profit juggernaut backed by Microsoft. Altman took the stand on May 12, calling the allegation “difficult to even wrap my head around,” according to NBC News. Closing arguments are scheduled for May 14, with a jury decision possible next week.
The flight from Austin to Temple—a short hop that suggests a return to Musk’s Starbase-area home—follows a string of longer journeys this week, including trips to Washington, D.C., and Alaska. Musk sold all his California properties in 2020 and now lives in a SpaceX-rented home near Boca Chica, Texas, making Central Texas a familiar landing zone between courtroom appearances.
