Elon Musk
Elon Musk flew from Moffett Federal Airfield in Mountain View, California, to Memphis International Airport on May 27, 2026, touching down after a 3-hour 41-minute Gulfstream G450 flight. The trip comes as Tesla deepens its partnership with FedEx, which has ordered 500 of the Tesla Semi trucks for its delivery fleet, per a regulatory filing this month.
The visit to the FedEx world headquarters coincides with discussions about expanding the electric truck rollout to Memphis's massive sorting facility. Musk has previously touted the Semi's energy savings on long-haul routes, and FedEx is a key early adopter. The billionaire's travel patterns often align with major manufacturing milestones or logistics deals.
While Memphis is not among Musk's typical recurring destinations, he has flown from California to Texas and then here twice in the past week, suggesting this trip was a planned detour rather than a spur-of-the-moment hop. The G450, part of Musk's fleet managed through Falcon Landing, logged the flight at a max altitude of 41,100 feet, consistent with business-use routing.
