Elon Musk
Elon Musk flew a five-minute repositioning hop within Moffett Federal Airfield on June 4, according to flight data — a short move that nonetheless put him back in Silicon Valley. The Gulfstream G550's brief taxi-like flight, from one ramp position to another, coincided with a period of intense activity at Musk's artificial intelligence company, xAI.
This same week, xAI formally unveiled Grok 4, its latest large language model, during a private event in nearby Palo Alto, as reported by tech outlets on Tuesday. Musk, who serves as xAI's founder, is believed to have attended the rollout to review the model's capabilities and discuss integration with his social media platform X.
The Moffett base is a frequent staging point for Musk's California trips, given its proximity to Tesla's Palo Alto engineering center and xAI's Bay Area operations. While the flight itself was merely a repositioning, it aligns with Musk's pattern of quiet visits to the region during product launches or company announcements.
