Eli Lilly flew from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport to LaGuardia Airport on June 3, a 55-minute hop in the company's Gulfstream G500, tail N307EL. The trip came just hours after a stop in Washington, D.C., where the company's lobbying and regulatory presence is concentrated.
The same week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration is expected to decide on expanding approval of Eli Lilly's blockbuster drug Zepbound (tirzepatide) to treat moderate-to-severe obstructive sleep apnea in adults with obesity, per a Reuters report from late May. A green light would open a new multibillion-dollar market for the GLP-1 franchise, already the company's primary growth engine. New York remains a key hub for investor meetings, analyst briefings, and media appearances tied to such regulatory milestones.
The flight follows a pattern of East Coast shuttling: N307EL flew from Indianapolis to Washington on June 2, and from Boston to New York on May 27. CEO Dave Ricks and senior leadership frequently rotate between regulatory touchpoints in D.C., financial audiences in New York, and the company's Indianapolis headquarters.
