The same week, IBM was in Boston for its annual Think conference, where CEO Arvind Krishna unveiled what the company calls a new "AI operating model" for enterprises, per IBM's own newsroom. The announcements included the next generation of watsonx Orchestrate, the general availability of IBM Sovereign Core for digital sovereignty, and the integration of Confluent for real-time data streaming. Athens is not a recurring destination in IBM's corporate travel pattern, which typically routes through Washington, Raleigh, Austin, San Francisco, London, or Bangalore. The brief flight from Istanbul suggests a connecting leg or a stop tied to IBM's expanding sovereign and hybrid cloud business in Southern Europe and the Middle East, where regulated industries are a key market for the new Sovereign Core platform.
