IBM flew from Boston Logan to Westchester County on June 9, a 33-minute hop in its Gulfstream G650ER (N780RW). The aircraft departed KBOS at 6:33 p.m. local and touched down at KHPN at 7:06 p.m., a routine return to the company’s Armonk headquarters.
The same week, IBM announced plans to invest more than $10 billion in quantum computing over the next five years, per a June 2 newsroom release, aiming to deliver the world’s first large-scale fault-tolerant quantum computer by 2029. The company also unveiled a strategic partnership with Google Cloud on June 4, combining IBM’s consulting expertise with Google’s Gemini platform to scale enterprise AI. CEO Arvind Krishna has been publicly advocating for lighter AI regulation, telling Axios on June 4 that President Trump’s AI executive order hits the “Goldilocks spot.”
The Boston leg is not a typical recurring destination for IBM’s fleet, which more often serves Washington, Raleigh, Austin, San Francisco, London, and Bangalore. The visit likely involved meetings with clients or partners in the region’s academic and tech corridor, where IBM maintains research ties. The quick turnaround to Westchester suggests a day trip for executive business, consistent with IBM’s policy that all air travel by the chairman and CEO be on company aircraft.
