Jim Mellon
Jim Mellon flew his Embraer Phenom 300, M-ELON, from an unidentified location near Liverpool to the Isle of Man on the evening of June 7, 2026, a flight that lasted barely two minutes at an altitude of just 800 feet — likely a repositioning hop after a longer inbound leg from the mainland. Earlier that day, the aircraft had tracked from the Midlands toward Stansted, suggesting a round of meetings in London and the East of England.
The same week, the Isle of Man’s aircraft register, which Mellon helped establish in 2007 by putting the first M-registered aircraft on its books, continues to attract new entries: the Manx Aircraft Register shows seven new arrivals in May 2026 alone, from a Dassault Falcon (N702AB) to a Gulfstream (9H-LOVE). Mellon’s own Phenom 300, M-ELON, remains a fixture on the register, operated by his Sleepwell Aviation Ltd, per spotter records.
Mellon, who chairs Burnbrae Group and splits time between the Isle of Man and his broader UK business interests, frequently shuttles between Ronaldsway and London-area airports like Farnborough and Stansted. This week’s quick-turn flights — from London to the Isle of Man and back — fit his pattern of maintaining a hands-on presence on the island while managing a global portfolio spanning biotech, uranium, and emerging markets.
