Joseph Tsai
Joseph Tsai flew from Hong Kong to Newark via Anchorage on June 20, arriving aboard his Gulfstream G700 (VP-COR) after a six-hour hop from Alaska. The trip caps a multi-continent swing that included stops in Taipei, Munich, Amsterdam, and Zurich over the previous two weeks.
Tsai lands in New Jersey the same week he addressed the VivaTech conference in Paris, where he called artificial intelligence a “US$50 trillion” market and declared Alibaba is “all in” on AI, per the South China Morning Post. Speaking alongside General Catalyst’s Jeannette zu Fürstenberg in a Bloomberg-televised discussion, Tsai argued that AI’s total addressable market far exceeds enterprise software and defended massive infrastructure spending [theaiinnovator.com].
The trip also fits Tsai’s pattern of cross-border travel for dual roles: Alibaba board duties and ownership of the Brooklyn Nets and New York Liberty, whose WNBA season is in full swing. After a European and Asian blitz, the private jet brought the billionaire back to his New York-area base just as the tech world digests his biggest AI pitch yet.
