Marathon Oil
Marathon Oil flew from Green Bay to Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on the evening of May 12, arriving just before midnight aboard a Gulfstream V. The 31-minute hop across the state follows a series of short flights this week between Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, and Wisconsin, suggesting a regional business tour.
The same week, ConocoPhillips confirmed it has completed the integration of Marathon Oil's assets following the $17.1 billion acquisition that closed in November 2024, per a Hart Energy report. The combined company is now targeting over $500 million in annual cost synergies, with Marathon's Eagle Ford, Bakken, and Permian positions folded into ConocoPhillips' Lower 48 portfolio. Marathon Oil's Houston headquarters remains operational as part of the transition.
Recent flights show Marathon Oil shuttling between Midwestern airports, including multiple stops in Michigan and Wisconsin. The pattern aligns with post-merger asset reviews and divestiture planning — ConocoPhillips has signaled it will sell $2 billion in non-core assets, and Marathon's legacy Bakken positions in the region remain under evaluation.
