Marathon Oil
Marathon Oil flew from Waterloo Regional Airport to Chippewa Valley Regional Airport on May 13, 2026, a 29-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream V (N540M). The flight landed just after midnight local time.
The same week, ConocoPhillips completed its integration of Marathon Oil, per an April 18 report from EnergyPricesToday.com. The $22.5 billion acquisition, which closed in November 2024, added Marathon Oil's Bakken, Eagle Ford, and Permian assets to ConocoPhillips' portfolio. Eau Claire sits near the western edge of the Bakken formation's southern reach, and the company has maintained a regional presence in the area for field operations.
The flight is the latest in a string of short hops across the Upper Midwest this week. Marathon Oil's Gulfstream V has visited Waterloo, Eau Claire, and other regional airports repeatedly since May 12, suggesting a tour of Bakken-area field offices or supplier meetings rather than a single event. The pattern aligns with post-merger integration work: ConocoPhillips has said it expects $500 million in annual synergies from the deal.
