Marathon Oil
Marathon Oil flew from Eugene F. Kranz Toledo Express Airport to Akron Canton Regional Airport on May 14, a quick 29-minute hop. The Gulfstream V, tail N540M, made the short trip across northern Ohio.
The flight comes as Marathon Oil, now part of ConocoPhillips following the $17.1 billion acquisition that closed in November 2024, works through integration. Per Hart Energy, ConocoPhillips aims to achieve over $500 million in annual synergy cost savings within a year of closing. The company also plans to divest $2 billion of non-core assets. This short trip to Akron may involve visits to operational sites in the Utica Shale or meetings with local partners.
Recent flights show a pattern of Midwest hops: on May 13, the aircraft flew multiple legs between Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Michigan. These suggest ongoing operational reviews or facility tours in the region. For Marathon Oil, now a wholly owned subsidiary of ConocoPhillips, such travel reflects the detailed work of merging two large portfolios.
