Marathon Oil flew from Indianapolis to Chicago's DuPage Airport on Friday evening, a 37-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream V (N540M). The short flight, arriving at 21:46 UTC, followed a series of recent trips across the Midwest over the previous two days.
The visit comes the same week Marathon Oil's chief executive, Maryann Mannen, told analysts that the company has been scrambling fuel cargoes on atypical routes to exploit supply disruptions caused by the war in Iran, per a Bloomberg report on May 5. Though Mannen noted Marathon is "largely insulated" due to its North American crude sourcing, the company has taken advantage of export opportunities as the conflict upends global fuel supply lines.
The flight pattern — including stops in Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania on May 14 — suggests Marathon Oil's leadership is holding a series of face-to-face meetings across the region, likely to coordinate logistics or discuss the integration of its assets nearly 18 months after the ConocoPhillips acquisition closed. DuPage's proximity to Chicago's business hubs makes it a convenient base for such talks.
