Marathon Oil
Marathon Oil flew from Thiessen Field in Wisconsin to Chippewa Valley Regional Airport in Eau Claire on May 15, a 40-minute hop in the Gulfstream V N540M. The flight arrived just after 6 p.m. local time.
The same week, ConocoPhillips confirmed it has completed the integration of Marathon Oil, per an April 18 report from EnergyPricesToday.com. The $16.5 billion acquisition, which closed in November 2024, has already generated more than $1 billion in annualized synergies, according to ConocoPhillips CEO Ryan Lance in a February earnings call covered by Oil & Gas Journal. Marathon Oil now operates as a ConocoPhillips subsidiary, and the combined company is targeting $2 billion in non-core asset sales over the next several years.
This trip fits a pattern of short hops across the Upper Midwest. In the days prior, N540M flew a loop from Saginaw, Michigan, through Akron, Ohio, and back to Wisconsin — likely visiting legacy Marathon Oil field offices or meeting with local operators in the Bakken and Eagle Ford regions, where the combined company holds deep inventory.
