Marathon Oil's Gulfstream V (N540M) made a brief 34-minute hop from Indianapolis to James M. Cox Dayton International Airport on May 25, 2026, arriving at 13:50 UTC. The flight, cruising at just 10,800 feet, capped a multi-leg tour of the Midwest that included stops in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Quad City, Illinois, over the preceding days.
The trip to Dayton comes the same week Marathon Petroleum Corporation reported first-quarter earnings of $511 million in net income, exceeding analyst expectations of $1.73 per share, per an Associated Press report on Barchart. Marathon Petroleum is headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, roughly 90 miles north of Dayton, and the company’s board of directors approved an incremental $5 billion share repurchase authorization during the quarter, as disclosed in the earnings release on May 5, 2026.
The Gulfstream V’s recent pattern shows heavy regional activity: between May 18 and May 25, the aircraft visited Indianapolis four times, as well as several other Midwestern airports, while the 2026 Indianapolis 500 (May 21–24) drew significant general aviation traffic to the area, per an FAA notice. The short Dayton leg may reflect post-event repositioning or a connection to Marathon Petroleum’s ongoing operational work in the Ohio region.
