McDonald's Corporation flies to Florida the week it warns of a weak Q2
The fast-food giant's Gulfstream lands in Stuart as its CEO grapples with high gas prices and low-income consumer pressure.

McDonald's Corporation
McDonald's Corporation flew its Gulfstream G600, N1955M, from DuPage Airport to Witham Field in Stuart, Florida, on May 17. Stuart sits near the company's long-standing executive retreat in Jupiter, a frequent but unlisted destination for the Chicago-based burger giant.
The trip comes the same week McDonald's Corporation reported first-quarter earnings that beat estimates, yet warned of a weak start to the second quarter, per a Reuters report on May 7. CEO Chris Kempczinski said high gas prices linked to the Iran war are disproportionately hurting low-income consumers. The company is leaning on its new McValue platform, including an Under $3 menu and a $4 breakfast deal launched in April, to win back budget-conscious diners.
The flight also follows a recent pattern: on May 10, the same aircraft flew from Chicago to Munich, Germany, likely for a review of its international operations. McDonald's Corporation is opening about 2,600 restaurants globally this year, and the Florida getaway may have doubled as a working retreat to discuss the margin pressure on U.S. franchisees that Kempczinski flagged on the earnings call.
