MGM Resorts flew from Macau International Airport to Tokyo's Narita International Airport on May 14, 2026, a 3-hour-51-minute hop aboard its Embraer Legacy 500, tail N783MM. The company had spent the previous day loitering around Macau, suggesting a brief stopover after business at MGM China's Cotai and peninsula properties.
The trip lands in Tokyo the same week MGM Resorts announced a new employment agreement with CEO and President Bill Hornbuckle through December 31, 2028, per a Nasdaq press release on May 8. The contract includes an advisory role for the company's $10 billion integrated resort project in Osaka, Japan, upon its completion. The timing of the flight suggests Hornbuckle or senior MGM China leadership may be advancing discussions with Japanese partners or regulators on the Osaka development.
The flight follows MGM Resorts' first-quarter 2026 earnings report on April 29, which showed record consolidated net revenues driven by MGM China and MGM Digital, per a PR Newswire release. The company also closed on the sale of MGM Northfield Park for $546 million in April, freeing up liquidity for share repurchases and international expansion. With Hornbuckle's new contract locking him in through 2028, the Tokyo trip looks like a deliberate step toward making that Osaka resort a reality.
