MGM Resorts flew from Van Nuys to Hollywood Burbank on June 8, a 20-mile repositioning hop that lasted all of a few minutes at low altitude. The Embraer Legacy 500 (N783MM) climbed only to 5,475 feet before settling back down at Bob Hope Airport.
The same week, the Nevada Gaming Commission voted 4-0 to fine MGM Resorts $8.5 million for permitting two illegal bookmakers to gamble at MGM Grand and The Cosmopolitan between 2017 and 2020, per the Las Vegas Review-Journal. The company has since strengthened anti-money-laundering programs and banned thousands of customers, but the penalty is the fourth-highest in state history.
MGM Resorts’ fleet of Legacy 500s and ERJ-190s is primarily used to shuttle executives and high-rollers between Las Vegas and major metros. Recent flights show a heavy pattern of Los Angeles–Las Vegas rotations, including a run from Ontario to Toronto for a meeting on May 31. The brief Burbank stop fits that logistical rhythm.
