Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani flew from Navi Mumbai to Doha on May 11, arriving ahead of a state dinner at the Lusail Palace hosted by Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani for U.S. President Donald Trump. Per a Reuters report published May 14, Ambani was among a select group invited to the event, marking his second meeting with Trump since the president returned to office in January.
The dinner comes as Trump witnesses the signing of a record $96 billion Qatar Airways-Boeing aircraft deal, and as Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, QIA, holds roughly $1 billion in Ambani's retail venture. No formal business discussions were planned, but the trip underscores the Reliance chairman's role as a bridge between Gulf capital and U.S. policy circles.
VT-AKV, Ambani's Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ, logged a short hop from Mumbai's new Navi Mumbai airport — a flight that barely cleared 5,000 feet before setting down again. The aircraft, India's first MAX 9 BBJ, has previously carried Ambani to Tokyo, Bangkok, and Dubai; this week it delivered him to a dinner table where geopolitics and commerce share the same course.
