Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani flew from Navi Mumbai International Airport on May 12, 2026, and landed back at the same airport minutes later — a brief local sortie aboard VT-AKV, his Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ. The flight, which climbed only to 4,925 feet and reached a ground speed of 203 knots, appears to have been a short positioning or test hop.
The same week, Reliance Industries is preparing to begin a maintenance shutdown at its Jamnagar refinery in the second half of May, according to a government official quoted by Business Standard. The shutdown, which typically lasts three to four weeks, comes after Nayara Energy's Vadinar refinery resumes operations. Reliance operates the world's largest integrated single-site refinery complex in Jamnagar, with a crude processing capacity of 1.4 million barrels per day. The government has been coordinating refinery schedules to ensure domestic fuel supplies remain steady amid the ongoing West Asia conflict.
Mukesh Ambani has been a frequent visitor to Gujarat in recent months, including a January appearance at the Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference in Rajkot where he announced a ₹7 lakh crore investment plan for the state over five years. The Jamnagar complex, which also hosted his son Anant's pre-wedding gala in 2024, remains central to both Reliance's operations and the Ambani family's ties to the region.
