Mukesh Ambani
Mukesh Ambani flew from Navi Mumbai to Navi Mumbai on May 12, 2026 — a brief local hop aboard VT-AKV, India's first Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ. The flight, which climbed to just 4,925 feet and reached a ground speed of 203 knots, appears to have been a short positioning or test movement near the new Navi Mumbai International Airport.
The same week, Reliance Industries is planning a maintenance shutdown at its Jamnagar refinery complex, according to a Business Standard report citing a senior government official. The shutdown, expected to begin in the second half of May after Nayara Energy's Vadinar refinery resumes operations, will idle the world's largest integrated single-site refinery — capable of processing 1.4 million barrels of crude per day — for roughly three to four weeks. The government is coordinating refinery schedules to ensure domestic fuel supplies remain stable amid ongoing West Asia tensions.
Mukesh Ambani's return to Mumbai comes as Reliance also navigates a major U-turn on the structure of Jio Platforms' upcoming IPO, with the company now considering issuing all new shares rather than an offer-for-sale, per an Economic Times report. The Jamnagar shutdown, combined with the Jio listing preparations, keeps the chairman close to home base for a busy operational stretch.
