Mukesh Ambani flew from Mumbai to Doha on May 14, 2026, aboard his Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ, VT-AKV. The flight touched down at Hamad International Airport the same day, according to flight data.
The trip coincides with a state dinner hosted by Qatar's Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, for U.S. President Donald Trump at the Lusail Palace in Doha on Wednesday, per a report from the Hindustan Times. Ambani is expected to attend the dinner, marking his second meeting with Trump since the president's inauguration in January, sources told Reuters. While no formal business discussions are planned, Ambani's Reliance Industries has deep ties to both U.S. tech giants and Qatar's sovereign wealth fund, the Qatar Investment Authority, which has invested roughly $1 billion in Ambani's retail venture.
The journey follows a pattern of high-level engagement: Ambani and his wife attended Trump's inauguration and a pre-inauguration dinner in January. His visit to Doha also comes as Trump heads to the UAE the following day for investment-focused talks, and as Reliance prepares a maintenance shutdown at its Jamnagar refinery later this month, per Business Standard.
