Mukesh Ambani flew from Navi Mumbai to Doha on May 14, 2026, aboard his Boeing 737 MAX 9 BBJ, tail number VT-AKV. The flight arrived the same day the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, hosted U.S. President Donald Trump for a state dinner at Lusail Palace, according to multiple reports including the Hindustan Times and the Times of India.
Ambani was one of a small group invited to the dinner, sources told Reuters, though he did not plan to hold formal investment talks. The trip marks his second meeting with Trump since the president’s second inauguration in January, which Ambani and his wife Nita also attended. The Ambanis have maintained close ties with the Trump family for years, including hosting Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner at their son’s pre-wedding gala in Jamnagar in 2024.
The Doha visit comes as Reliance Industries prepares for a scheduled maintenance shutdown at its Jamnagar refinery later this month, per Business Standard. The company’s ties to Qatar run deep: the Qatar Investment Authority has invested roughly $1 billion in Ambani’s retail venture, and the Gulf state pledged $10 billion in Indian investments during the Emir’s February visit to New Delhi.
