Nassef Sawiris returns to Cairo from Greek islands as brother's $115M Mykonos resort takes shape

Nassef Sawiris flew from Naxos Island National Airport to Cairo International Airport on June 16, a nearly seven-hour Gulfstream G700 flight that touched down just before 8 p.m. local time. The trip returns Egypt's richest man to his home base after a brief stay in the Greek Cyclades.

The same week, Sawiris's brother Naguib Sawiris announced a €100 million ($115.7 million) five-star resort on Mykonos, set to open in May 2027, per shore.africa. The project, developed through Ora Developers, includes 88 rooms and villas across 42 acres. Nassef Sawiris himself has been in the news this month for shuttering his London family office amid UK tax changes, shifting his base to Abu Dhabi, and preparing to direct up to $50 billion into U.S. infrastructure through a merged Orascom Construction and OCI entity, as reported by multiple outlets.

The flight continues a pattern of frequent international movement: earlier this month Sawiris flew from New York to Cairo, then to London and Nice, before heading to Greece. With his London office closing and his investment vehicle NNS Group now based in Abu Dhabi, these trips reflect a businessman in transition, balancing family ties in Egypt with a global portfolio spanning fertilizers, Adidas, Aston Villa, and now American infrastructure.
