NextEra Energy
NextEra Energy flew from Palm Beach International Airport to Richmond International Airport on May 17, a 2-hour-8-minute hop aboard its Embraer Praetor 600, tail N47MW.
The same week, NextEra Energy's senior management team is meeting with investors throughout May and June, per a company announcement on May 4. The trip to Richmond — a city with no major NextEra Energy operational hub — likely connects to those roadshow meetings. The company just reported a record 4 GW of new generation contracts in the first quarter of 2026, including 2.2 GW of solar, 1.3 GW of battery storage and 0.5 GW of wind, as covered by Utility Dive on May 14. Chairman and CEO John Ketchum told analysts the company now expects to build up to 41.5 GW of solar and 43 GW of battery storage by 2032.
The Richmond arrival follows a busy week of flying: N47MW went from Palm Beach to San Francisco on May 11, then back to New York on May 12, then to Palm Beach on May 14, then back to New York on May 16, before today's leg to Richmond. The pattern suggests Ketchum or his senior team are shuttling between Florida headquarters to meet with investors and regulators as NextEra Energy pushes a $20 billion transmission-and-gas buildout and a proposed $150 million settlement tied to Florida Power & Light's political activities, per the company's SEC filing.
