NextEra Energy
NextEra Energy flew from Loon Lane Seaplane Base in Maine to Palm Beach International Airport on June 17, a 2-hour-50-minute hop in its Embraer Praetor 600 (N47MW). The flight arrived at the company's home base near Juno Beach, Florida, just after sunset.
The same week, NextEra Energy's parent company agreed to a $150 million proposed settlement to end a class-action lawsuit over past controversies, per a WGCU report on June 16. The suit, revived by an appeals court, alleged misleading statements about political consulting and surveillance. The settlement comes as NextEra Energy pursues its $67 billion merger with Dominion Energy, announced May 18, which would create the world's largest regulated electric utility.
The Maine-to-Florida trip follows a busy stretch for NextEra Energy's fleet: recent flights include a Washington Dulles visit on June 14 and a Gander, Newfoundland stop on June 12—likely tied to the merger's regulatory approvals. The return to Palm Beach suggests a brief break before the next phase of the deal.
