NextEra Energy
NextEra Energy flew from a remote Wyoming airstrip to Sarasota Bradenton International Airport on June 18, a 3-hour-34-minute hop in its Embraer Praetor 600 (N31MW) that touched down just after 1:53 p.m. local time. The flight originated at Pacific Creek Airport, a private field near the Wind River Range, and arrived on Florida's Gulf Coast.
The same week, NextEra Energy agreed to pay $150 million to settle a securities class-action lawsuit over allegations that its subsidiary Florida Power & Light misled investors about political interference schemes, including the use of ghost candidates and surveillance of a journalist, per court filings covered by Utility Dive. The settlement, filed Monday in federal court, comes about a month after the company announced a $67 billion merger with Dominion Energy to create the world's largest regulated electric utility.
This is the third flight by N31MW in the past 48 hours, following a June 17 trip from Chicago O'Hare to Minneapolis and a June 16 run from Orlando to Chicago. The pattern suggests a busy week of boardroom discussions as the company navigates the merger's regulatory approvals and the fallout from the settlement.
