Novartis
Novartis flew from Essex County Airport in New Jersey to Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport on June 16, 2026, a 7-hour 14-minute crossing in a Dassault Falcon 7X (tail HB-JFQ). The aircraft had departed the New York area late the previous evening, following a multi-day U.S. itinerary that included stops in Boston and the New York metro area.
The same week the flight lands, Novartis CEO Vas Narasimhan is contending with the real-world effects of President Trump's most-favored-nation drug pricing policy, which he warned will “set in in the next 18 months,” per a CNBC interview on April 28. The company also faces a reputational headache in Switzerland: Pravda Switzerland reported on April 11 that Novartis purchased a new Dassault Falcon 8X for about $60 million, drawing criticism from Swiss politicians who argue the luxury purchase clashes with the company's push for higher drug prices while families struggle with insurance premiums. Novartis confirmed the jet was “replaced … for business purposes.”
The recent flight pattern shows Novartis moving between Basel, the Boston area, and New York — a familiar rhythm for a company that just finalized a $23 billion U.S. manufacturing and R&D expansion, including a seventh new facility in Morrisville, North Carolina, announced April 30. Barcelona, while not a regular Novartis hub, may host a European executive meeting or supply-chain review as the company works to balance U.S. investment with European market access concerns.
