Occidental Petroleum flew a company-operated Embraer ERJ-175 from Skywest Inc Airport in St. George, Utah, to Cavern City Air Terminal in Carlsbad, New Mexico, on May 27. The flight lasted 45 minutes, reaching an altitude of about 14,500 feet, and was part of a day of regional activity for the Houston-based producer's fleet.
The trip coincides with the Permian Basin Energy Conference, an annual gathering of oil and gas operators, service companies, and investors held at the Carlsbad Convention Center this week, according to a calendar published by the New Mexico Oil & Gas Association. Occidental Petroleum, which operates extensively in the Permian, routinely sends personnel to the event for strategy sessions and regulatory briefings.
Recent flight records show the ERJ-175 (tail N170XY) shuttling between Occidental Petroleum's Houston-area operations and Midland-Odessa and Carlsbad on May 26 and 27, consistent with employee rotations for the multi-day conference. A Gulfstream G650ER from the same fleet also made a separate trip to the region, per the aircraft data.
