Occidental Petroleum's Embraer ERJ-175, tail number N170XY, flew from Buffalo Grass Airport near Pampa, Texas, to Midland International Air and Space Port on Wednesday evening, a short 34-minute hop covering roughly 175 miles. The flight arrived just after 9 p.m. local time, capping a day that also saw the jet shuttle between Houston and the Permian Basin.
The timing coincides with the Permian Basin Petroleum Association's annual CEO Summit, which runs through May 28 in Midland, per the organization's published calendar. Occidental Petroleum CEO Vicki Hollub is a featured speaker at the event, alongside other industry leaders. The summit draws executives from across the oil and gas sector to discuss regulatory policy, production forecasts, and capital spending — core concerns for a company where Berkshire Hathaway holds roughly 28 percent of shares, according to a 2026 filing.
Occidental Petroleum has made three trips to Midland in the past two days alone, and its home base is Houston's Bush Intercontinental. The Houston-to-Midland corridor is a routine commute for a firm whose largest assets sit in the Permian Basin, and the CEO summit transforms that routine into a scheduled stop for the boardroom set.
