Peter Thiel flew from Gary, Indiana, to State College, Pennsylvania, on June 18, a short hop that lands him within driving distance of the University Park campus the same week an internet leak exposed affiliates of his invitation-only secret society, Dialog. The leaked directory, independently verified by WIRED and published by The Stanford Daily on June 16, lists Stanford University President Jonathan Levin, U.S. Senator Cory Booker, and Elon Musk among 113 affiliates of the group, which hosts annual retreats with sessions titled “Navigating WWIII” and “Bring Back Nuclear,” per the Hollywood Reporter.
Thiel founded Dialog in 2006 as an off-the-record forum for powerbrokers in tech, politics, and finance. The leak, which appeared in the code of Dialog’s website and was posted by hacktivist maia arson crimew, offers a rare glimpse into a network that has operated largely out of public view. Thiel’s flight to central Pennsylvania — a region he visits infrequently, based on tracked flights — comes as the university community digests the fact that its president is among those tied to a society whose closed-door discussions have drawn scrutiny for their unvetted nature.
Thiel has been on the move this week, having flown from Los Angeles to Chicago on June 16 before repositioning to Gary for today’s leg. The trip follows a pattern of itineraries that shift between his California home base, Midwest stops, and periodic visits to his $12 million Buenos Aires mansion, which he purchased last year as part of a reported broader contingency planning that has included investments in New Zealand and Uruguay.
