Ratan Tata’s Dassault Falcon 2000 (VT-TAT) was recorded making a brief local movement at Coimbatore Air Force Station on May 26, after arriving from an earlier flight originating near Bhubaneswar. The aircraft, a legacy of the late chairman emeritus, remains on the Indian registry and is operated by Tata Sons.
The same day, the Tata Sons board met in Mumbai for what multiple Indian business outlets described as a critical session. Per a Business Today report published May 25, the agenda included the reappointment of chairman N Chandrasekaran, whose current term ends in February 2027, and a detailed presentation on losses at Air India, Tata Digital, and the group’s semiconductor ventures. The Economic Times noted that Noel Tata, chairman of Tata Trusts, had raised concerns at a February board meeting, leading to a deferral of the reappointment decision. The meeting was also expected to address the long-pending question of a potential listing of Tata Sons, as covered by CNBC TV18.
The Coimbatore stopover may reflect a quiet movement ahead of a consequential week. The Falcon 2000, which Ratan Tata himself piloted for years, continues to serve the conglomerate’s travel needs as the group navigates leadership transitions and strategic debates over capital discipline and regulatory compliance.
