Ron DeSantis flew from Tallahassee to Miami on Friday afternoon, a 67-minute hop aboard N943FL, the Cessna Citation Latitude operated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The aircraft touched down at Miami International Airport at 2:11 p.m. local time, capping a busy week of state travel that included trips to Ocala and West Palm Beach.
The trip comes the same week a coalition of voters and the Equal Ground Education Fund filed a lawsuit challenging the congressional map DeSantis signed into law on Monday. The suit, per the Miami Herald, argues the map violates Florida’s Fair Districts Amendment by explicitly favoring one political party — a charge the governor’s office has disputed by citing a recent U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The new map would give Republicans 24 of Florida’s 28 House seats.
DeSantis has been a frequent flyer on this aircraft since taking office, with Miami a recurring destination for official business. Friday’s flight follows a pattern of Tallahassee-to-Miami trips this week, including a round trip on May 12 and another on May 13, suggesting the governor is maintaining a steady presence in South Florida as the legal challenge unfolds.
