Ron DeSantis
Ron DeSantis flew from Charlotte's Field to Orlando International Airport on June 2, a 38-minute hop aboard N943FL, the Cessna Citation Latitude operated by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. The flight arrived at 4:06 p.m. local time.
The trip lands Ron DeSantis in Orlando the same week the Florida Legislature convenes a special session on immigration, which the governor called in May to advance what he describes as the strongest state-level immigration enforcement in the country, per a June 1 press release from his office. The session, scheduled to run from June 2 through June 6, is centered on bills that would require local law enforcement to cooperate with federal immigration authorities and create new penalties for undocumented immigrants charged with crimes.
Ron DeSantis has used N943FL extensively in recent weeks, shuttling between Tallahassee, Tampa, and Dallas before this Orlando stop. The frequency of flights reflects the governor’s aggressive push to move his policy agenda through a legislature he controls, and the June 2 arrival suggests he intends to be present for the session’s first full day of floor action.
