Target flew from Washington Dulles International Airport to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport on May 14, a 2-hour-23-minute hop aboard its Gulfstream G280, tail N585PL. The flight arrived just after 5 p.m. local time, returning the company’s executives to their home base after a day in the capital.
The same week, Target’s new CEO Michael Fiddelke laid out the retailer’s strategy to win back shoppers, as reported by CNN Business and CNBC on March 3. Fiddelke, who took over on Feb. 1, told investors the company would add buzzy brands, remodel stores, and increase capital spending by 25% to $5 billion this year. Target’s stock has dropped nearly 30% over three years, and the chain has logged 12 straight quarters of weak or declining sales, per the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Target’s fleet of three Gulfstream G280s typically shuttles executives between Minneapolis and recurring destinations like Chicago, Houston, Austin, San Francisco, Miami, and Washington. The May 14 trip to Dulles and back fits a pattern of regular visits to the D.C. area, where regulatory and policy discussions often draw the retailer’s leadership.
