Target flies to Grand Junction the week of its annual board retreat
The 18-minute hop from Montrose suggests a gathering of executives in Colorado's resort country.

Target Corporation's Gulfstream G280, tail number N585PL, flew from Montrose Regional Airport to Grand Junction Regional Airport on June 18, a trip of just 18 minutes. The short hop, covering roughly 60 miles, likely shuttled executives between Colorado resort towns where the retailer's board and leadership team often convene for strategic planning.
The same week, Target is navigating a delicate leadership transition. In February, Michael Fiddelke succeeded Brian Cornell as CEO, with Cornell remaining as executive chairman. Shareholder dissent has been growing: nearly 13 percent voted against Cornell's re-election at the annual meeting, per a Supermarket News report, and a proposal to install an independent board chair was rejected. The Colorado retreat offers a chance to align on strategy away from Minneapolis headquarters.
Target's fleet has been busy this month. Recent flights show trips from Minneapolis to New York, Atlanta, San Antonio, and Washington D.C., as well as a June 17 journey from Victoria, Texas to Houston. The pattern reflects the constant travel required to manage a $25 billion quarterly retail operation, even when the destination is a mountain resort rather than a boardroom.
