Thierry Stern flew from Hong Kong to Bangkok on June 10, arriving just after midnight aboard his Gulfstream G650, HB-JFP. The two-hour hop from VHHH followed a brief stop in southern China, and came two days after Stern left his Geneva home base for a string of meetings across Asia.
Stern lands in Bangkok the same week Patek Philippe is deepening its push in Southeast Asia. In a recent interview with CNA Luxury, Stern said the brand had organized an upcoming Cubitus event for the region — part of a strategy to attract a new generation of collectors after last year’s controversial launch of the square-cased watch. Thailand, a growing luxury market, fits neatly into that plan, and the timing aligns with the brand’s post-Watches & Wonders sales cycle.
The flight also fits a pattern: Stern’s earlier trip on June 8 from Geneva to an airport in the Caucasus region suggests he has been touring emerging markets. Asia remains critical for Patek Philippe, where demand for Nautilus and Grand Complications far exceeds supply, and where Stern, per his own words, believes the brand must “go to the limit, and a little bit beyond” to stay relevant.
