Tom Cruise flew his HondaJet HA-420, N77VA, from Canandaigua Airport in upstate New York to Tampa International Airport on May 26, touching down after a 2-hour-49-minute flight. The trip from KIUA to KTPA, which reached 43,000 feet and a ground speed of 402 knots, arrived just after midnight.
The same week Cruise landed in Tampa, the Church of Scientology is holding its annual “Maiden Voyage” gala at the Fort Harrison Hotel in downtown Clearwater, a milestone event celebrating the church’s founding, per the official Scientology events calendar. Cruise, a devout Scientologist since 1986 and owner of a penthouse in The SkyView in Clearwater, frequently makes the short trip to Tampa International or Clearwater Air Park for church-related gatherings and meetings in the Tampa Bay area.
This flight follows a busy week of travel for Cruise. On May 21 he flew from Tampa to Canandaigua on N77VA, then back to Tampa the same day. Recent Bombardier Challenger 350 trips included Charleston, South Carolina and Fort Lauderdale. The 367-plus tracked flights on his two aircraft show a pattern of heavy Florida–New York travel, with Tampa acting as the primary gateway to his Clearwater home base.
