Truist Financial flew from Bodin Airport in Indiana to Charlotte Douglas International Airport on June 18, a 1-hour 41-minute hop in its Cessna Citation Latitude, tail N405T. The aircraft reached 41,000 feet and a top speed of 528 knots before touching down at the bank's home base.
The return comes the same week Truist Financial announced a leadership shake-up. On June 15, the bank named Michael P. Lyons as its next president and CEO, effective Sept. 1, succeeding Bill Rogers, who will become executive chair until his retirement in April 2027, per a Truist Financial press release. Lyons, a 30-year industry veteran and former Fiserv CEO, is the first outsider to lead the bank since the 2019 BB&T-SunTrust merger, as reported by Financial Planning. The transition marks a "transition year" for the bank, which recently set a higher profitability target of 16% to 18% return on tangible common equity, according to American Banker.
The flight fits a pattern of recent trips. Over the past week, N405T shuttled between Charlotte, Atlanta, Washington D.C., and Chicago, suggesting routine executive travel ahead of the planned succession. With Lyons set to move into the CEO role in September, the bank's aircraft is likely to remain busy as the new leadership team aligns on strategy.
