Bank of America flew a Gulfstream G280, tail N228BA, from Camp Bullis ALS Airport near San Antonio to Eagle County Regional Airport on June 4, a 1-hour-47-minute hop that touched down in the Vail Valley at 12:43 p.m. local time. The aircraft, part of a corporate fleet that includes a Boeing BBJ and multiple Gulfstreams, typically shuttles executives between Charlotte headquarters and financial hubs in New York, Washington, and London. This trip, however, took a different route — into the Colorado Rockies.
The same week the jet landed in Eagle County, Bank of America's board of directors is holding its annual summer retreat in the Vail area, a tradition for the bank's top leadership to review strategy away from the office, per a report in the Charlotte Business Journal. The retreat comes as Bank of America navigates a shifting interest-rate environment and regulatory scrutiny of large bank capital requirements, topics likely high on the agenda for CEO Brian Moynihan and the board.
The flight follows a pattern of recent trips by Bank of America aircraft that have shuttled between Texas and the Northeast, including a May 29 flight from New Jersey to San Antonio and a May 26 round trip between Long Island and New Jersey. The move to Eagle County suggests the bank's leadership is consolidating in the mountain resort for the week's discussions, with the G280 serving as a support link for executives arriving from multiple cities.
