Bank of America’s Gulfstream G280 (N228BA) departed and returned to San Antonio International Airport on June 20 in a 30-minute round trip, according to flight data tracked by celebplanes. The short hop follows a pattern of recent visits by Bank of America aircraft to San Antonio, including a June 11 arrival from the Grand Rapids area and a June 15 arrival after a stop in Iowa.
The same week, Bank of America Chief Executive Brian Moynihan emphasized the bank’s spending on artificial intelligence — $4 billion annually on emerging technology, per an American Banker report — and stressed the importance of accuracy in AI models serving customers. Moynihan has also been publicly discussing consumer spending trends, noting that credit and debit card volumes rose 5% year-over-year in May, as he told NBC News.
The San Antonio area is home to a large Bank of America operations and technology hub. The brief flight likely shuttled executives or personnel connected to that center, arriving as the bank continues to expand its AI infrastructure and retrain employees for a workforce increasingly shaped by automation.
