Corning flew from Elmira/Corning Regional Airport to Charlotte Douglas International Airport on May 14, 2026, a 93-minute hop aboard Falcon 900 N38CG. The trip lands the company's CEO Wendell Weeks in North Carolina the same week Corning and NVIDIA announced a multiyear partnership to build three new advanced manufacturing facilities in the state and in Texas, per a joint press release on May 6.
The deal, covered by CNBC, will increase Corning's U.S. optical connectivity capacity tenfold and create more than 3,000 jobs. The factories are dedicated to producing the fiber-optic gear needed to move data inside NVIDIA's AI factories — a direct line from the glassmaker's 175-year-old roots to the current infrastructure boom.
This Charlotte visit is the latest in a string of recent trips between Corning's Elmira home base and North Carolina. The flight pattern shows at least four round trips in the past week, suggesting active on-site work as Corning executes its upgraded Springboard plan, which targets a $30 billion annualized sales run rate by 2028.
