Corning flies to Boston the week of its AI manufacturing expansion

Corning flew from Charlotte Douglas International Airport to Laurence G Hanscom Field outside Boston on May 14, arriving at 3:31 p.m. local time in a Falcon 900 (tail N38CG). The 1-hour-42-minute trip followed a busy week of shuttling between Corning’s Elmira home base and Charlotte.

The same week, Corning announced a multiyear partnership with NVIDIA to build three new advanced manufacturing plants in North Carolina and Texas, per a May 6 news release from Corning. The deal includes a $500 million investment from NVIDIA and the right to purchase another $2.7 billion in Corning stock, as reported by Broadband Breakfast. CEO Wendell Weeks also appeared on CNBC’s “Mad Money” on May 7 to discuss the partnership and the company’s upgraded Springboard plan, which targets a $40 billion annualized sales run rate by 2030.

The Boston-area landing is a familiar pattern: Corning’s flight department frequently visits Hanscom, likely for meetings with regional investors, partners, or the company’s legal and financial advisors.
